Tonight (Feb. 12, 2012) I made Vegan Fried Rice. It was yummy!
Give it a try! You’ll love it.
The PLAN!
Step 1: The DAY BEFORE.
*1 Cup of Brown Rice
*2 Cups of Water
*1 Teaspoon of minced garlic
*1 Tablespoon of “Brag’s Liquid Aminos” (Brags is a soy sauce without any added salt. It is available in most health food stores. See Genesee Natural Foods.www.gnfi.com )
*Vegetable Broth BullionĀ sufficient to flavor two cups of liquid. (I used a low-sodium vegetable broth powder made by Frontier Herbs. Available at most health food stores. see www.gnfi.com )
Cook the rice per directions on the package adding the other above ingredients while cooking the rice. (or in a rice cooker like I did). Place the rice in the refrigerator over night. (This will make the best rice for fried rice.)
Step: 2
* 1/2 Cup Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP)
* 1/2 Cup Hot Water
* 1/2 Teaspoon Powdered Sage
* 1 Tablespoon “Brags Liquid Aminos”
Reconstitute the TVP by added by adding the 1/2 cup very hot water, the sage and “Brags Liquid Aminos” to the dry TVP in a bowl. Mix & let sit covered for about 5 minutes.
Step 3 Gather the following ingredients and either a large skillet or better yet a Wok and a wooden spoon.
* 2 Medium Onion diced.
* 1 Large Portabella Cap (mushroom) Diced.
* 1 1/2 cups of frozen mixed vegetables
* 3 Tablespoons of Vegetable Oil.
COOK IT UP:
Heat up the oil in your skillet or Wok and carefully add the frozen vegetables and stir fry these until they are unfrozen and somewhat softened.
Add the onions and mushrooms to the center of the Wok and stir fry until the onions begin to be translucent.
Make room at the center of the pan and add the prepared TVP and stir until warmed.
Add the prepared brown rice to the center of the pan and stir until it is warm. Incorporate all the ingredients and continue to stir until the mixture is hot. (Not too long or it will get mushy. Add a dash or two of Brags Liquid Aminos while cooking.)
Now it ready! Enjoy!
